Elizama Montalvo, MD presented:THE ENERGY OF THE WINTER SOLSTICE AS A TIME OF REFLECTION , PRAYER, AND HEALING. The name solstice means ‘sun stands still’. The meaning of the winter solstice operates on a number of levels. At its core is the birth of the sun – both universally and personally. The inward nature of winter allows us to heal and be recharged for spring, as well as reassess our connection to our spirit and life purpose. This is the best time for humans to go within, as nature follows the the sun stillness. The winter solstice is a celebration of our spirit being reborn and transformed from inner darkness into light. Spiritually, it is symbolic of allowing the darker shadow side of our personality to come out, to be acknowledged and to be transformed as it heals. During the winter solstice the sun hugs closer to the horizon than at any other time during the year, yielding the least amount of daylight annually. On the bright side, the day after the winter solstice marks the beginning of lengthening days leading up to the summer solstice.
